How to Set Up Call Forwarding on US Cellular (2026 Guide)
UScellular's wireless business was acquired by T-Mobile (closed August 2025), and customer accounts are moving to T-Mobile systems during 2026. If your account has moved, use the T-Mobile guide — your line now uses T-Mobile's **21* codes.
These codes come from UScellular's historical documentation; UScellular's own support pages now redirect to T-Mobile, so if the codes don't work, your line has likely been migrated. For customers still on legacy UScellular provisioning, two quirks catch people out: (1) UScellular uses *92 for no-answer forwarding, not the *71 you'd expect on Verizon, and (2) you turn everything off with *720, not *73. Dial *73 on UScellular and nothing happens.
Plan & eligibility on US Cellular
- Legacy UScellular postpaid: included at no extra cost.
- UScellular Prepaid: forwarding is not supported.
- If your line has been migrated to T-Mobile, follow the T-Mobile guide instead — legacy codes will stop working.

Replace [number] with the 10-digit phone number you want calls sent to — no dashes, no country code, no spaces.
Method A — Dial codes
The fastest way. Open your phone's dialer, type the code exactly as shown, and press call. You'll hear a short confirmation tone.

Android (legacy UScellular)
- Open the Phone dialer
- Enter *72 followed by the 10-digit number, no spaces
- Press call
- For no-answer forwarding, use *92[number] instead
Forward only your missed calls
You're on a roof, under a sink, driving between jobs. You don't need every call forwarded — just the ones you can't get to. That's called conditional forwarding, and it's the setup most trades businesses use.
- Forward when no reply — keep the call ringing on your phone first. If you don't pick up in 15–20 seconds, it forwards.
- Forward when busy — you're already on a call, the next one still gets answered instead of hitting voicemail.
- Forward when unreachable — you're in a basement or a dead zone. The call still gets picked up.
Combine all three and no caller ever hits voicemail again — but you still answer the calls you're free to take.
US Cellular call forwarding not working?
Verify on T-Mobile calling services• Use *720 to deactivate — *73 does nothing on UScellular.
• There is no *71 code on UScellular — for conditional forwarding, use *92 for no-answer.
• If your line was migrated to T-Mobile in 2025, the codes above no longer work. Switch to the T-Mobile guide.
• No *71.
• Turn off with *720, not *73.

• For migrated lines, see T-Mobile's calling-services page: https://www.t-mobile.com/support/plans-features/calling-services
• Make sure you entered a raw 10-digit number — no +1, no dashes, no spaces.
• Dial the deactivate code first, wait 10 seconds, then re-enter the activate code.
• If voicemail keeps catching the call, your voicemail is answering faster than forwarding activates. Ask US Cellular to raise your ring timer or use "no reply" forwarding with a longer delay where supported.
• Restart your phone after enabling — some devices cache the old routing.
